Beauty from boredom.

Beauty from boredom

The isolation from Covid-19 has changed the way we go about normal everyday things in many ways. I am normally a portrait photographer and people are my main subjects, so with the onset of the Corona virus, I have had to distance myself from my source of artistic interest. One day, during a session of boredom and having a pitty party I decided to just take a walk around my house with my camera and capture whatever beauty I could find. It just happened to be the time of year when the Wisteria vines are blooming, so there was a blessing of beautiful blooms right beside my house. Although they are annoying because of how much and fast they grow, Wisteria just happen to be one of the most fragrant and colorful flowers in our area. I photographed the blooms beacause I think I was as attracted to them as the buzzing bees were, and the resulting photograph became the cover photo for my new ebook, “Beautiful Grace”. That first photo helped me to see that there are opportunities to continue to be creative even through these difficult times. It aslso showed me that I should add nature to my list of subjects. As artists we must keep an open mind to all of the possibilities that surround us everyday, wherever we are. Just get out of the boring mindset and find your beautiful subject!
